After reading raves about Assaggio, I really wondered whether my experience (which I didn't post for some reason) was unique. Evidently not. Our beefs, if I remember correctly, were about switched wine (which I actually did post a month or so ago), having the waiter return to us multiple times after ordering to inform us that our choice was no longer available, and uninspiring food. On the good side, the waiter was very apologetic and brought my partner a glass of dessert wine, gratis, for his trouble and, as with the previous poster, we found dessert the best part of the meal. I hate to condemn a restaurant one experience but with all the choice out there, it's hard for me to give that second chance.

Assaggio - disappointed?

Do we follow the advice of the multitudes like so many sheep; or do we break new culinary ground? Whenever I offer suggestions of where to eat, I usually throw in a few of my recommendations. The higher the priced restaurant, the more suggestions(no one, but no one likes throw away money, and feel the way you and Dave did). I usually take another person's advice the first time. After I feel comfortable, I may come back and try another dish. Or, if I am really observant, I try to watch what the other folk are eating and liking or not(but, in your case, it can be excused, as I assume that you and Dave only had eyes for each other). Remember the advice you gave on EB at the place below the WS Bridge, it was wonderful. And I looked around at the other dishes; and will go back. alan
