I would not recommend "Galileos" Italian. Overpriced, rude waiters, marginal food. It is touted as "THE" place for Italian, but I don't agree. It seems that all the new, good restuarants in DC are Tai. > >Hi, > > I'm wondering if someone could send me a list of some good DC >restaurants, like Italian and even Etheopian (spelling). Washington, DC
Washington DC resturants

However: the South Austin Grill, down in Alexandria, does a good rendition of tex-mex items. And yes, there are a wad of Thai restaurants. I once enjoyed one meal at Sala Thai, on P street off dupont circle, but that could have been a situational thing. Steve

Well, it all depends where you want to go in D.C. First, I would suggest not looking at the Washingtonian magazine--for the most part, the expensive reasturants they rate just plain suck. My favorites are: The Palm: all around good "American-Italian" food. Large portions. Landini Bros: Italian in Alexandria (old towne) La Colline: Excellent french reasturant with very good service. Woo Lae Oak: Korean in Arlington Haandi: Indian (all styles--tandoori etc) in the virginia suburbs. Bamyian: (Check the Spelling, but it's Afgan, in old-towne). I haven't been in a while, but when I did go, it was excellent. One thing I've noticed is that people get spoiled with the food and service in their home town. It's hard to expect to get first class service at a reasturant in D.C. if you're a tourist. There are always locals who are going to get better service than you because they frequent the reasturant on a regula r basis. I guess that's the same in every city though... -barry-
