In my experience, this is where you'll find the most authentic food. The shopping center is named Eden after a center in Saigon. Realize that if you're in search of decor, nice service and cleanliness this is not the place. Eden has been falling apart for years, but some of the food is to die for. I especially like Pho Xe Lua (right next to Big Wong): a rather smallish pho place by Pho '75 standards, however the soup is far superior. Just take a shot a try a few places, you're bound to enjoy yourself.

If you're out this way, try Lan's (in the same shopping center), some of the best noodle soups around.

There are several places in DC,but I've never been very impressed with them. Saigon Gourmet is on Connecticut Ave. near the Kalorama Bridge. Very heavy French influence, not my cup of tea. Saigonais is in Adams Morgan. Beautiful food, sorta nuevo Vietnamese, nothing you'd actually ever find in Vietnam, so why bother.

Of course, others have mentioned Nam's in Bethesda. Not bad, IMHO, although I've had better out in Eden. However, as the only place in Bethesda (although a new place is opening on St.Elmo) it's worth it rather hiking out to Seven Corners. I'm looking forward to this new place on St. Elmo. I live in Bethesda and I don't always have the time to go to Virginia. :(
