For Rockville, don't miss La Madelaine in the shopping center at the corner of Rockville Pike and Montrose Road. French country food served cafeteria style, but pleasant ambience, sensational food, and low prices (nothing over $10, desserts about $2.50). Be sure to get some of their French Roast coffee. They're also a bakery and their bread is available at the end of the line, along with a fabulous assortment of marmalade and jellies.

As for Smithsonian, which museum? There are lots of them. Air & Space and American History both have their own restaurants. They're a little pricey, but the food is okay and there isn't much else around. Except the hot dog carts, of course -- my personal choice.
