How about unusual and GREAT. One of the best dinners I've had out in a long while was at New Heights ... I don't remember the address but north on Connecticut Ave., across the bridge, and an immediate left turn will get you there. Ecclectic is the only word I can come up with. To a friend who is a Star Trek fan, I said it was like drinking Romulan ale ... something you don't get too often, and you're not sure what it is, but it is good! It's expensive but well worth it.

Enjoy wherever you go! --

The most eclectic area of restaurants in DC can be found in the Adams Morgan district. The area - if I remember correctly is around Conn. and .. Now I can't remember.. Something that starts with a K or C... But anyway if you ask around you should have no trouble. A few years ago when I lived there, an Ethiopian restaurant was all the rage. Also some very good Jazz clubs.

Things come and go as the area is very trendy, so you should be able to find something unusual.

For Vietnamese, I have been told that a little place at Seven Corners (on Rt 7 - Leesburg/Fairfax) is the best. The reports say - no atmosphere but great food.. sorry I don't know the name.

Can anyone add any details here?

This is Route 7, but not in Fairfax; on the intersection of Rt. 7, Rt.50, and Wilson Blvd., at 'Seven Corners', is a small shopping center called Eden Shopping Center. Technically, it's on Wilson. Almost every shop and restaurant in the mall is Vietnamese (everything but Ames). Eden restaurant is probably the one you mean.

Adams Morgan starts near Kalorama and Connecticut (the street you remembered).

Little Saigon (Wilson Blvd. in Clarendon, Arlington) is still as good VIetnam- ese as you'll find anywhere.

Some current new ones in Adams Morgan: Bukom Cafe (West African), Bua Thai (not that new, but great Thai food), I Matti (also not too new, but absolutely great Tuscan style Italian with fresh pastas at $10 and good house wine at $11/lit.

Ask about other preferences if you wish...

Jeff
