Raku - Review

We tried out Raku the other night and I thought I'd let dc.dining know what we thought of it. Let me start by saying that I didn't have very high expectations - I'd read too much about the food being brought in from Red Sage's kitchen each morning, and I got the impression that food was secondary here. After having eaten here, I still probably think that food is secondary, but at these prices and with this fun atmosphere, its worth going. We sat at the bar and watched the kitchen guys do their stuff. Very entertaining. We shared 3 appetizers - the eggroll, which I liked a lot, the curried shrimp which I loved, and the chicken dumpling, which was so-so. We also shared a main course. It was a noodle and shrimp dish with green curry - we were told it was the hottest dish in the house, but it tasted very bland to us. But they were wonderful about bringing stuff to help us make it more to our tastes. All in all it was a fun time, the room has a sort of hip New York feel to it, and the prices are very reasonable.
