I recently gleaned a bit of misinformation from this newsgroup and I would like to offer the correct information. Someone posted that there was an Afghanistan restaurant called Bamiyan in Old Town Alexandria. Possibly it was there at one time and moved but it is now located in Georgetown. It is in the 3300 block of M St. I had an excellent meal there last weekend after I finally found out where it really was! Kate

So sad, but the Old Town Alexandria outpost of the Bamiyan, formerly 300 King Street, has indeed just recently closed it's doors. (The cafe replacement is not worth mentioning.) There is a new, and equally good, and inexpensive, Afghan rest. north of Old Town on the Route 1 corridor, but alas, that's a bit of a walk :)
