Hi, I was wondering if someone could point me towards some nice Indian or
vegetarian restaurants in the Gaithersburg/Rockville etc. area.

India Grill, on 355 in Rockvile, is basic but good. The buffet is an excellent deal, with cooked to order naan included. Udupi Palace is a bit out of your way in Langley Park (University Blvd, a couple of miles from the beltway) but is great for southern Indian. Bombay Bistro (downtown Rockvile, near city hall) gets great reviews, but I don't think it's worth the wait to get in.

Our favorite close-to-home Indian place is Bombay Bistro, 98 W. Montgomery Ave. in Rockville (that's a block north of Rt. 28 and about 1-2 blocks west of the courthouse complex). Always great food, but the place is small and you may have to wait a bit for a table.

India Bistro in the Festival Center at Muddy Branch is quite good. It's small so the decor (and the prices) are not as trendy as some of the other places around, but the food has been consistently good. They serve a whole range of Tandoori as well as veg dishes and they have a very good lunch buffet for $6.95. I haven't been there for dinner yet, but their lunches are very impressive. I highly recommend it.
