Not sure what you're considering northern PG, but here's a few. It sounds like you were looking for vegetarian selections so i've commented accordingly:

Udupi Palace, on University Blvd. just east of New Hampshire Ave (in Langley Park). There food is ALL vegetarian and wonderful -- spicy too, although that varies.

Seven Seas, Rt. 1 in College Park (near Berwyn Hgts). They have a good Chinese all-veg menu, but you have to ask for it otherwise you only get the nonveg one. When i've been there, the "school kids" were either behaving themselves or not present.

Pasta Plus, on Rt. 1 at Rt 198 intersection in Laurel. Good non-chain Italian food, especially now that they have a brick oven. Not a huge vegetarian selection but more than adequate (including pizzas and calzones from the new oven). They don't take reservations, BTW, and there's usually a line on weekend nights.

India Cafe? -- in New Carrollton Mall. I've only been there once or twice but the food was surprisingly good, for standard North Indian dishes. Decor/ambiance isn't going to win prizes, but what'd you expect from a mall in that area?

The Alamo -- Kenilworth Ave. in Riverdale. only joking! Unless they've changed in the several years since i was last forced to go there, this is a REALLY crummy pseudo Mexican place. Avoid it. :8^P
