Hello, I've been seeing alot of the same messages here day after day, so thought I'd post something new! 8^) Here in the DC metro area, there are so many great ethnic restaurants - it is truly an embarrassment of riches! Here are my particular favorites, in no special order: Chesapeake Crab House/An Loc Landing On Wilson Boulevard between North Nelson and North Monroe Streets. Excellent vegetarian menu, wonderful Vietnamese specialties and great crabs. The crabs are expensive, everything else is cheap. Yum. Madhu Ban Near where Wilson and Washington Boulevard meet. It's a hole-in-the-wall family run vegetarian Indian restaurant. It's VERY inexpensive and the food is delicious! The decor is cheesy, but who cares. Pines of Italy On Glebe Road at Pershing Drive. Wonderful, wonderful Italian food. Great red sauce. Great mussels. Great clams in white sauce. Great lasagne. Great white beans. Great fried peppers. Shall I go on? The service is friendly. They are from Pakistan ("Must be Southern Italy," as my father remarked when I took my parents there for dinner.) I love this place. More cheesy decor. [Are you noticing a pattern?] El Paso Cafe On Pershing Drive at Glebe Road. Great, fun Mexican/Salvadorean restaurant. Yummy, yummy fajitas. Great steak. Terrific guac and . . . You get the picture. Spent New Year's Eve there with music, free bubbly, hats & noisemakers. The staff is very nice. Nice price, too. Don't order too much, the portions are big. Well, I'm getting typing fatigue so I'll close for now. Let me know if there's interest and I'll post some more. Also know great places in DC and Southern Maryland. Happy Restaurant Hopping! Diane B.
