I really like Cafe Berlin on Capitol Hill (Massachusetts Avenue between Union Station and Stanton Park). They have outdoor seating which is nice in good weather.

I went in a party of 4. All of us had spent time in Germany and knew
and loved most German food. None of us had an acceptable meal. We left and went somewhere else and satisfied ourselves with desert and coffee. I thought this was a great restaurant 20 years ago but now I think they should go ahead and shut it down. We were there on a Thursday night and there were no other customers. The wine selection was next to nonexistent and the beer was not much better.

I recently went to Old Eurpoe with my "Dinner Club". We unanimously strongly disliked it. Here's a review we wrote:

I still happen to like Wurzburg Haus, located in the minimall at the corner of Redland Road and Muncaster Mill Road in Rockville (well, *near* Rockville). The best way to get there from DC/Northern VA is to take I-270 north to Shady Grove Road, then east on Shady Grove several miles to Muncaster Mill Road. Take a right, go past the fire house and around the S-curve to the shopping center on your right (the next light is Redland Rd.). The restaurant is located near the center of the mall. Essen gut!

Both Cafe Mozart and Cafe Amadeus (McPherson Square area downtown) have the standard German menu in a lunchtime atmosphere. Sausage, kraut, selection of recognizable specialties, and desserts.

Cafe Amadeus may have served German food in the past but it doesn't now. I was there last Friday and under the impression that they served German/Austrian food. The head waiter said it was "American Grill." Overall, I felt the food was average and overpriced. Service as above average (grade of B-) but not great.
