I really like going to the stretch of Connecticut Avenue near the Sheraton Washington Hotel (Woodley Park/Zoo Metro stop). Within a block of the Metro stop are a variety of restaurants. One of my perennial favorites (and the first place I ever had Thai food) is Thai Taste. Last time I was there, there were 3 Thai restaurants in that block. They also have a variety of other kinds of restaurants that seem to come and go: Mexican, Irish, Indian, etc.

If you want to eat in a good Italian restaurant, try Petitto's in that same area. (If it's still there.)

There's even a Baskin Robbins for dessert on a hot summer night. :-)
