I was just in DC for a convention (at Washington Center) and ate at some very nice restaurants. As I recall, all but one were relatively closeby:

Georgia Browns (upscale southern food)

Ten Penh (excellent pan-Asian, fusion)

Baccus (excellent Lebanese, especially the appetizers--this one is closer to Georgetown, but I think within walking distance, though a bit of a walk).

Hope that helps.

mikebilt here

Burma on sixth street, around H i think, is amazing. Some of the most funky food you ever have. Have the ginger salad and the soups are great. The service is spotty--just go in a relaxed mood and let them take care of you.

Also, if you're entertaining clients who are adventerous....I say go to Marakesh on NY ave around 6-7 streets. It's fixed price morracan experience. sit on communal sofas, hand washing from a kettle, eat with you hands. and entertainment. We go once or twice a year for special occassions.

Well...the original post did mention seafood, so if you can afford a splurge do not miss Kincead's at 2000 Pennsylvania (?)

Single best meal I have yet to enjoy with my wife...she liked it better than Gran Vefour in Paris.

The best squid preparation ever...intriguing combinations, perfectly cooked. Room could use a bit of a buff up, but overall a world-class experience.
