Around Dupont Circle, you might want to try Food for Thought, which specializes in vegetarian food and is very inexpensive. Also try Zorba's, a greek place where you order at a counter and pick up your own food. This makes it incredibly cheap, and its also very good. The vegetarian platter is great- its got spanikopita, hummus and falafel, spicy beans, two dolmas, and a very small greek salad. All this for about $6.30. Most of the other places in that area will be a bit more expensive, but there are tons so if these don't appeal just walk around - you're sure to find something up your alley.
