I just went for the first time to Coco Loco on 7th Street. After all the hype about it I was very disappointed. Our family chose the Brazilian dinner - there is also a Mexican tapas menu. The Brazilian dinner consists of unlimited access to a not very original saladbar plus a variety of kinds of meat. The meat, which with one exception was uniformly dry and overcooked, comes around on a huge skewer. The meat server either pushed off what is on the bottom of the skewer, or he slices meat off. It was gross. There is no artistry at all involved. It was big hunks, almost cavemanlike. I could imagine hairy mastodon parts being served up. The only meat which was juicy came when we repeatedly asked for some lamb. They weren't going to serve any lamb unless specifically requested. By the time it finally arrived,I wasn't hungry and the whole family was pretty turned off. It was expensive, and we'll never go there again. Susan Meehan

Very different from typical restaurant meal ordering. Unless they've changed a lot in the last six months, I'd characterize their meat and salad bar as excellent. Our server made the carving part of the experience. Maybe you hit it off badly and the situation degenerated from there. I'd recommend a complaint to the management and a second try. My only complaint was with the neighborhood (of course, I think all of DC is unacceptable for civilized people).
