My favorite Chinese restaurant is Full Kee, a hole in the wall on 5th and H. No dimsum, but great Hong Kong style wonton soup, clams in black bean sauce, Singapore style nooodles, chow fun, and stellar vegetables.....
No credit cards but great food.....Don't let the dingy appearance put you off.
