I had lunch today at Canyon Cafe,in Chevy Chase Pavillion in Friendship Heights. This is a chain headquartered in Dallas. At least two restaurants have tried and failed in this space (the Metro/food court level) so far (L & N Seafood and an Italian place). I hope the Canyon Cafe folks have better luck, as I was impressed both with the decor (classy Southwest motif) and food (slightly upscale SW/TexMex -- similar in some ways to Cottonwood Cafe in Bethesda). The service was friendly and competent. The music was way too loud, but they turned it down when I mentioned it. They've only been open since last Monday but seem to be on track. Cheers, Greg.
