Here are a couple of great on-line resources for you. "The Washingtonian" has been doing really good, reliable restaurant reviewing in the DC/VA area for years. Their "Cheap Eats" list (called the "Best Bargains" list on-line) has been a wonderful source for affordable, but good, restaurants for me. For more upscale dining (although, to be fair, some "Cheap Eats" restaurants also make this list) see their "Top 100" list. It is located at: http://www.washingtonian.com/dining/index.html For another reliable source, Check the Washington Post's restaurant guide. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/searches/restrant.htm If you haven't been to the area before, don't be too intimidated by the fact that a lot of the restaurants are located in cities other than Alexandria; all of the cities listed are probably within a half hour drive from wherever you are in Alexandria (outside of rush-hour, of course :) ). Personally, I like Thai at Duangrat's, sushi at Matuba, Indian at Haandi and the chili at Hard Times Cafe. Good luck!
