The BEST Ethiopian in Adams-Morgan is Meskerem. They are on 18th St NW, just below Columbia Rd. Good food, nice decor. Sit upstairs, where they have the low traditional tables.

Across the street for Meskerem is The Red Sea, also Ethiopian. Not bad, been there a long time. I prefer Meskerem, but this is the one that I see cited a lot on DC.dining, so plenty of people still like it.

On Columbia Rd, there's a place called South Africa Cafe. Haven't been there yet, but ther menu is quite authentic (according to my South African neighbor.) However, the only review I have ever seen of the place said that the food quality ranged from outstanding to awful, and the service was slow, and not terribly friendly. Not speaking from personal experience here.

There are several other places along there, Ethiopian and others, but most of them don't require reservations anyhow. I would go down there to eat at Meskerem, and take a walk around. You'd get to see what's there, and a trip to Meskerem is really worth the time... Good luck.

Drop me an email if you had another specific place in mind. I might know about one that I have forgotten about for the moment.

The Red Sea. I always enjoy dining there and the prices are very reasonable. Have tried all in Adams Morgan--the Red Sea has the best food. Adam
