"Tami" informed: >Doumar's in Norfolk, VA is pretty good (Downtown Norfolk near Tidewater Community College and Norfolk's waterfront), drive up/come to your window service, take out of sit inside. Vinegar based BBQ sandwiches plus other items and homemade ice cream with homemade cones. Original turn of the century cone making machine on premisis, still used for make the cones. 1/2 way decent limeaide's as well (I'm a HUGE limeaide fan) Tami, Thanks for mentioning this place. I'd forgotten all about it. I believe I ate there once a few years ago. Is it on a side street right around the corner from Waterside Marriott in downtown Norfolk? I remember they had good sides of turnip greens & ham, and some other "soul food" type struff. I recall the place as very 50's looking and quite cool atmosphere. I remember liking the bbq sandwich but not being too impressed by the ribs, but for the life of my could not remember the name. Do you also recall the name of the strret it's on? Was the sauce tomato-based??? I don't think it was woodsmoked, but I do remember liking the sandwich there. Thanks again, I'll add it to the list. cap'n ron PS - BTW, Bill's Barbecue in Richmond, while their bbq sucks, they do make some kickass limeade, their one saving grace!
