It's a little out of the way, being down one of the secondary highways, but it's worth it. A friend in Burlington took me to a seafood place (can't remember the name--the food was equally memorable). It was expensive and, to my mind, a little stuffy and very over-rated.

There's a place downtown called "Daily Planet." funky atmosphere, excellent food, excellent desserts. I forget the street but it's not hard to find. ______________________________________________________________ "Well I've watched you walk around and meet Boyfriends that you think are so deep But...if all your new boyfriends were really that great Couldn't they take this place and take it straight?" -The Modern Lovers

recommedations
I lived in Burlington for eight years:
I will strongly second Pauline's
Similarly is the Villah\ge Pump House further down the road.
The best restaurant I ever ate in is 20 minutes from Burl, half way
between Middlebury, down s.r. 116 Mary's in Bristol
India House so far the best indian food I have had in the country
Daily Planet is fun
For Breakfast a must is Sneaker's in Winooski the next town over
Also in Winooski at the Champlain Mill, good shopping two good restaurants
Down the street from Pauline's the Sirloin Saloon
Hope that helps, E-mail me for more info [email removed]WOW - it's been about 7 years but we had a rather nice meal at the ICE HOUSE, a restaurant downtown - abutting the Lake.
For breakfast, I always liked Henry's Diner (downtown) and Sneakers (across the river in Winooski). Carbur's had a fun take on sandwiches. For dinners or Sunday brunch, one of my favorite places was Waterworks in the Champlain Mill (also in Winooski). For the sheer entertainment value, why not consider a trip down I-89 to Rt. 100, and visit Ben and Jerry's for a factory tour? Guy

We go up every summer to Burlington and never miss the opportunity to go to VP&B. So far (in my opinion) they have the best fish and chips I've ever had. Their locally brewed beer is excellent. I tried a cider wine which was nice. Andy
