"The Railway Telegraph", opposite Thornton Heath station. Unfriendliest local I've ever been in, I think.Leytonstone pubs in general.(The Sheep Walker) The Albert, Chingford. Full of silly little boys. The Flowerpot formerly The Plough, Wood St,Walthamstow. Nice friendly severs and great food. It was the Goose & Granite Pub at Coram & Marchmont. But I had a fine time everywhere I went in London. An outstanding city. Thanks Ian and Ash for your recommendations. Thornton Heath is quite an 'interesting' area and I visit it from time to time. Your rating of the Railway Tavern doesnt surprise me. Regarding pubs serving real ale in London WC1 and WC2, I would recommend The Lamb in Lambs Conduit Street, near Great Ormond Street hospital. They do real ales and they taste OK - also, it's a very nice pub to sit around in, one of the best in Central London, IMO. But right enough, a lot of pubs here don't how to treat real ales properly. Thanks for those leads! Keep 'em coming in, please. Ian Ash wrote: > my vote goes to ALL the pubs in WC1 and WC2 who try to sell real > ales, especially those recommended in the "Real Ale Guide". I have been in probably all the pubs in the SW London area and the worst of them all is The Red Lion on Walworth road SE I had the misfortune to run it for about 3 months, full of the detritus of the area, punchups every week especially on dole days, the toilet overflowing & flooding one of the bars, your feet stuck to the crap on the floor, upstairs accommodation you wouldn't let a dying dog live in, cellar full of flies & rats in other words a complete & utter shithole maybe they have done it up now but I would never step foot in it again yuck -- Jambongre May the farce be with you Ianrawes wrote: > I am compiling a London guide which is to include a section on London's > worst pubs.
