The Ubiquitous Chip is by most indications the best restaurant in Glasgow. It is in a converted stable near the UNI, off Byres Road. Two people will spend about 100 pounds for dinner with wine. Do not be put off by raucus student barsacross the street. Not a lot of great places in glasgow, the home of the frenchfried frozen pizza (no joke). The Ubiquitous chip has very good food, especially game. An excellent female wine steward. The restaurant at the hotel at the corner of Byres and Great Western Road (name escapes me but it is a Stakis hotel) has reliable food as well, but not gourmet.
