Not quite Wimbledon (Battersea) and not tried it personally and might break your budget - Jonathan Meades say £85 for two - but is the closest of anything I have heard about - perhaps someone else can comment?
London, United Kingdom
restaurant in wimbeldon

I ate there several years ago with my aunt, a sister in the order of the Daughters of the Cross of Liege (irrelevant fact). It may still be there. You'll be doing well to break the £40 barrier. Unfortunately Wimbledon seems to have little else to offer but chains. Sorry I don't have the number.

Certainly is its called the Broadway Place (its mentioned in good food guide I believe) - I've been going there years and food hasn't killed me yet ! :) There is a good Mexican called Footlights near the station opposite the Prince of Wales pub. There is new restaurant next to the cinema which looks promising - I think its Thai. Can't really think of any others ...... steve

Saw this late, so it's probably of no interest to the original poster, but Sarkels is only a couple of miles from Wimbledon (Replingham Road, Southfields) and is quite simply the best indian restaurant I have ever had the pleasure to eat in.
