In central London try Drummond Street which is near Euston Station. There are two south Indian resaurants (and a few other indian restaurants too) on that street, both do a range of dosas with all the stuff above. They also do the fantastic bhel poori.

Diwana, in Drummond St (next to Euston) has been going for ages: it's still good. Plenty of Dosas, not just masala ones. Is this central enough?

Yet another recommendation for this place. The food's great (though I've never been anywhere else that does dosas and bel phoori to compare), the decor and atmosphere comfortable, and the price pretty reasonable.

Try Malabar Junction - 107 Great Russell Street, London, WC1B 3NA - 020 7 5805230

A minute from Tottenham Court Tube station.

Been there twice and both times it was superlative. The food was authentic and quality was good. Superb upmarket ambience - none of the low quality feel. You sit under what is effectively a large glass dome !! Staff were fine and helpful. Second time around the restaurant was full and we sat till late after our meal. At no point were we made to feel rushed or hurried.

Prices are higher than average and on the premium side but well worth it. Portions are large and the menu is extensive. Next time I will take a digital camera and get a pic of the menu.

Rates 9 out of 10 on my list for great South Indian food.

cheers

Seconded! Brilliant restaurant, great food and friendly staff. Not a pure vegetarian restaurant, though.

Has the same owners (AFAIK) as Radha Krishna Bhavan in Tooting High Street, where you can get the same high quailty food substantially cheaper.

Cheers
