I don't have any specific recommendations, but I think you will find what you want in the Soho area near the Leichester Square tube stop. Lots of chinese and other ethnic restaurants there as well as some very good pubs and since it is the entertainment area I am certain jazz will not be hard to find. It is pretty touristy, but lots of locals too and lots of fun.

And the area (I forgot to mention this in my last post) you are going to be staying in will help guide recommendations too. When I was in London in May, I was staying in Grosvenor Square and so I was eating mostly in that area. I barely even touched Soho!! But I urge you to go to Soho because there are so many restaurants there you will hardly be able to choose. I went to one pub, but it was for lunch, not the evening beer-drinking experience. I do recommend it tho. Good food, nice fancy interior and authentic, not redone. It's the Audley on (not surprisingly) Audley Street, about 3 blocks below Oxford Street, about 1 block south of Grosvenor Square. I'll see if I can't find my notes for the Indian restaurants I ate at and post them later. Sorry to keep coming back to this thread, but I'm kind of scatter-brained these days. 8-) Mary.
There are some great Chinese restaurants in London such as Gallery Rendezvous, Le Ho Fook, Le Ons and Zen W 3 Article 1916 of uk.food+drink.restaurants:
