The Shaheen up the road towards the cathedral and another one up Gilesgate. I have been to the latter but can't remember its name at the moment---it'll come back to me (Raj Poot possibly). The Shaheen is the favoured restaurant for our work dos but it is closed on Mondays, hence the trip to t'other an. Both offer fairly standard menus and both seem happy to cater for large groups. The meal I had in the Gilesgate restaurant was good but not great but then I did arrive late and ended up plumping for a veg byriani because everyone else had already ordered. It's not something I'd normally choose so my disappointment might have been with the dish rather than their dish. I don't know Chester-le-Street at all. If you want anymore specific advice on the Durham places let me know. Colin From [email removed] Mon Nov 11 18:05:25 EST 2002 Article: 11270 of uk.food+drink.indian
