Despite this restaurants reputation, we found both the service and the food mediocre, at best. Just thought I'd share this, and wondered if anyone else had a similar experience here. Harman. PS Has anyome been to P.O.S.H. in Southampton, and what did they think of their experience? From [email removed] Tue Apr 8 11:43:26 EDT 2003 Article: 13756 of uk.food+drink.indian

Terrific atmosphere - you really do feel as if you're on a liner bound for colonial India. Food is OK. Difficult to say more, nothing wrong with the food, just not outstanding. Poppadom Express (couple of doors up from Kuti's) is also a 'fun' place with, in my opinion, better food. I went there half a dozen times very happily until one waiter added to the bill what he thought I should leave as the discretionary tip! The guy got 'arsey' when I pointed out that he was the first waiter ever to do that there. The manager apologised and said that it should not have happened but I've not been back since. That was 2 months ago. Want to know the very best Indian restaurant in Southampton on food quality? Kerali, 180A Burgess Road which is near to the University. It's relatively new, previously the Rose of India and then Bombay Duck before it's most recent incarnation. OK, the location is nothing like the trendy lower end of town and the place is small but the food here is truly superb. The food is very different to other Indian restaurants and is South Indian, many of the items on the menu I've not seen anywhere before. I was in there last night and had squid! Price wise it beats the other places listed above hands down - starters less than GBP(£)3.00 each, mains around GBP(£)5.00 something each. Amazing value for top quality. I'm hard pressed to think of any criticism but if I had to mention something it's that the napkins are the thin paper type! Hope this helps.
