Veggie Perrins in Mayflower Street, Plymouth.

Owned and run by a family of vegetarian Indians. Lovely people, lovely food.

If you ever get into Scotland there's a great little family run restaurant on one of the side streets in Forfar (can't for the life of me recall its name).

We had a seafood thali and a chicken thali between the two of us and the range of flavours was excellent, 2 years ago.

The daughter of the house (who had just finished at Dundee Uni and was anticipating a visit to London as her Aunt in Southall had promised to buy her a sari for the Graduation Ball) informed us that they had been there 20 years.

Hi

I've been 'lurking' for a week or so, checking out the recipes and comments.

Maybe this is somethig thats been discussed time and time again, in which case you won't mind posting some quick answers ;)

Havig come from an indian [well, anglo-indian] family, and having spent time in india, I can only say that about 99% of 'indian' restaurants I've been to in the UK are shams, and wondered if the group had a list of 'Authentic Restaurants' that I could check out.

For my part I would like to add the following to the list:

"Sayonara" in Belgrave Street, Leicester - Pure Veg, mostly South Indian recipes.

They do an excellent range of thalis and all the favorites such as dosa... and not a Chicke Tikka Masala in sight! LOL!

Anyway, any recommendations? Especially for the Bedfordshire and London areas :)

cheers

[ Oh, and I hereby commit to posting my hyderabadi aunt's recipe for chilli prawns :) ]

Paul
