The mezes or appitizers are the things I enjoyed most when I was in Turkey. Eggplant, yogurt and bean dishes are outstanding. There are many resturants around the Blue Mosque and Haghia Sophia. The ones I would highly recommend is down the hill, toward the Bosphorous (not the golden hind) on the Kennedy road, around the corner from the train station. It is an outdoor cafe, covered with grape vines. There way of dealing with mezes is to bring all of them to the table and you select the ones you want to eat. This practice is not universal. Enjoy, Gordon
