1. Goode & Co. Barbeque 2. Papacito's Mexican 3. Churasco's South American (Rice Village) Houston also has a number of acclaimed high-cuisine offerings, e.g., The Americas (across street from Galleria). But the above 3 are personal favorites. I'm behind the time regarding the Mexican restaurants in Houston, and would appreciate a knowledgeable review.
Houston, TX
What about Houston?
While in Houston, I ate at a couple of Cajun restaurants that rank right up there with places in Louisiana. The best was called Magnolia's. It was a beautiful place with great food, and not terribly expensive. I don't remember where it is, except that it's in the trendy part of town. Another good Cajun place is called Pappadeaux's. It's run by the same gang that runs Pappasito's Cantina. (They also have Pappa-Mia, for Italian). Both their Cajun and Mexican places were great.

Pappasito's (from the Pappas family} Cafe Noche (more interior mexican, lots of vegetarian dishes including fajitas made from portobello mushrooms) Ninfas (only the original on navigation) La Mexicana Cyclone Anaya's (unfortunately the original restaurant closed--there is still one left) I could go on! maddie
