Are they still as good as it used to be?? IMHO, Thai Kitchen on IH35 @ Wm. Cannon is consistently good (one of my favorite places to eat), and I have been eating there for many years. I have had disappointing experiences at both their Oak Hill and Guadalupe locations. Gordon in Austin

Are they still as good as it used to be?? Well, I've only been to the one on Guadalupe, and haven't noticed any change in the last year or so. I like their $4.95 specials. But I do have one irritation, which keeps me from going there more often... Their plates are so small!!! The quantity of food given is a bit low. She says that for $4.95 the quantity provided is right. As if giving maybe 10% or 20% more would make a difference to their bottom line. Well, OK. But why the tiny plate? To make it appear that there's a lot of food??? To be able to say, "well, we'd give you more, but that's all the plate can hold"??? I hate it because there's not much room to move food around in that plate (fraction of an inch between the mound of food and edge of plate), and because of what that seems to imply about what they think of customers' intelligence. In general, I don't think highly of any place that tries to pull this small-plate-full-of-food trick. What are they thinking? That people are easily fooled? One place I did like because of their LARGE plates with lots of room to move food around (and good food and enough of it, too) is Korea Garden on Lamar. But they've gone to those compartmentalized Japanese boxes lately. Still about the same amount of good food, though.
