Restaurants in Austin, TX
I highly reccommend Elita's Fajitas on Guadelupe street. I think they're the best Fajitas in Austin. Dave

It's the one with the sign "Beer, it's > not just for breakfast anymore" in the window. That's Maggie Mae's. A long time Austin bar with a good beer selection. Another good beer bar I prefer is the Crown & Anchor Pub just north of the U.T. campus. Much more fun. > In fact, just wander Sixth Street, there's a lot goikng on there so > you'll find something. I don't know any really good or interesting restaurants along Sixth Street, so here are the restaurants that I think are good and that I frequent: Manuel's: Downtown at 4th and Congress. Non Tex-Mex mexican food. More interior style. Cool atmosphere. Classical and Jazz guitarists on saturday. Small jazz ensembles on Sunday. I usually go to lunch late on Saturday's there because it's not so crowded and I can sit there for as long as I want. Mezzaluna: Downtown near 4th and Colorado. Austin doesn't have any great Italian restaurants in my opinion, but this trendy California influenced place isn't bad. Definitely the best wine list in town with a large selection of good wines by the glass. You can get Veuve Clicquot and '68 Fonseca Port by the glass here. The bartender, Brett Tisdale, is very knowledgeable about the wine list and is happy to recommend something if the wine list is a little overwhelming. P.S. Don't go to Sfuzzi's. This chain has average food, a horrible wine list, and an arrogant staff. And the people that hang out there aren't your typical Austinites. They look like transplants from Dallas :). Bangcok Cuisine: North Austin at 183 and Burnet road. Good Thai restaurant with an all you get eat lunch buffet. Tex-Mex: For Austin Tex-Mex you can try the following places in South Austin. Peso's on South Lamar. Seis Salsas on South First. here. Pizza: Pizza is definitely a personal thing. I like Milto's on Guadalupe at 29th. Good pizza (think and thin), great Greek salads. You an also get things like Gyros and eggplant sandwiches here. Pizza Nizza on Barton Springs Drive near Zilker Park. Interesting tasty pizzas with 4 or 5 different sauces to choose from. Olive's Gourmet pizza on West Sixth is good too. You usually order by the slice here and two or three slices will kill you. Try the roasted garlic pizza. Two slices of this and no one will come near you for days! Mother's: This is a vegeterian restaurant that's been around for years. Cool funky place to hang out on Sunday's. I'm sure I'm leaving something out. Oh well.... Chris Chauvin [email removed] Pencom Software (512) 343-1111

Their food is better and I got food poisoning at Bangcok. :( If you go to Thai Kitchen, definately order from the extremely hot food section of the menu. It really is that hot. ! !Pizza: ! I like (a LOT) FONDA SAN MIGUEL for _real_ Mexican food. 2330 West North Loop (nearest Hancock @ Shoal Creek Rd.) 512/459-4121 Not Tex/Mex. _Real_... 8)
