I think Saccone's is great, but I know what you mean about the sauce. I've come to distinguish the sauces between Saccone's and Reale's (IMHO - the 2 best pizzas in Austin, with Reale's on top) as spiced vs. tomatoey: Saccone's sauce seems to be spiced with lots of herbs, etc. and has a very distinct flavor I'll someday figure how to describe<!>. Reale's sauce is like an Italian mama's (and poppa's), rich in tangy tangy tomatoes. But like I said, I dig 'em both.

You absolutely should and then post and tell us what you think.

I always forget humble Hoek's, my favorite on 6th as a pizza high up on the list (next to Niki's which is third in line and Nick's Great - R.I.P. whaaaaaa which is right up there). I like Hoek's much better than the others despite inconsistencies.

Two questions for the group:

What's the status of Reale's expansion?
Whatever happened to Nick's Great Pizza on 2222?

cheers,
