Great place in San Antonio is El Mirador. It was written up in Esquire mag in August, I think. Southwestern and Tex-mex. Very interesting food. Place has little ambiance. You will think this cannot be the write place, but it is. Prices are extremelly reasonable---maybe $8.95 for the main dish. Ate there twice in September---something we rarely do. Most of the places on the Riverwalk are pretty touristy. Dolly

There was a thread about this awhile ago and many of us agreed that Las Canarias in an old hotel of the riverwalk is exceptional. Expensive, but definitely worth it. I can't remember the name of the hotel (we even stayed there...), but it used to be a school and was redone into a hotel- very nice. Enjoy!

It's called La Mansion del Rio, and was once, I believe, housed the St. Mary's University Law School. David
