I don't know about Broussard's, but I can tell you the BEST Chicken Fried Steak in the WORLD is served close to Cedar Park, in Round Rock at Bob's BBQ. Everything else is mediocre at best, but the CFS fills the plate for sure, and has been known to go over the plate. The steak is definitely tenderized (the beating way, I guess... tender but not 'chemical'), and the gravy is all that and more!! I love to go there... the price for the CFS is $6.75 with two sides and I always have to ask for a to-go box as soon as my meal is served, cuz there is no way a lady can eat all that!! LOL Ok... sometimes I do, but I usually try to get a lunch out of if.
The Blu Chez dressing is dangerous... the corn on the cob is ugh!! The peach cobbler is pasty and nasty... I love Blu Chez... but have taken to asking for honey mustard instead... In fact, that is the ONLY place I DON'T get Blu Chez dressing on the salad. The salad is pretty fresh: iceberg lettuce, shredded carrots and an onion ring and tomato wedge. All fresh, but nothing to write home about. The corn on the cob is bland, mushy and nasty. The peach cobbler is not very sweet and the crust is like old school paste.
For the money, you can't beat it tho!! $6.75 for dinner AND lunch is the way to go in this family. The Mr. can usually finish his, but he has never ordered dessert there!
just my .02 worth of eatin....

I wanted my Canadaian brother-in-law to have a real chicken fried steak
so I
drove to Cedar Park to Broussard's, only to find it closed. Does anyone
know
if this is due to a family emergency, or if it (horror) is permanent?
We ended
up at Threadgills for an average CFS, butI really wanted him to get the
real
thing like Grandma used to make.
