Brio Vista Uggggg!!!!!

I wonder if anyone has tried the new Brio Vista restuarant at 360 and Great Hills.

My wife and spent one of or rare nights out without our 2 yr old (and $90)
at this restuarant. We found the service mediocre, which it shouldn't be when you're spending that kind of money. Then when I tried my fried oysters I found a 2" piece of shell inside (fortunatly I was trying to be delicate and didn't do any damage). I told the waitress and received a shrug, no apology no offer to replace them. The main course was ok but it was so dark in there I couldn't tell what I had on the side without tasting

If you like to be charged too much for so-so food and to be treated poorly
this is the place for you.

Thanks for listening.

If my article sounds like I am jumping down somebody's throat,
please allow me to apologize. I just feel that it is unfair
passing judgements on the basis of limited data.

Granted Brio's is not about to go out of business on the
strength of one negative review here in austin.food, but it's
grossly unfair to them (as it would be to any other eating
establishments) to hand down a judgement on it on the basis of
  one visit.

We have been to the Brio's downtown once, and the Brio's uptown
three or four times. I agree wholeheartedly with the lack of
lighting in the uptown place. It's a pity really, since their
dishes are very well presented. OTOH, it makes for a great romantic
dinner spot (as they said on one Southwest Airlines flight: "We
will now dim the cabin lighting in order to enhance the appearance
  of our flight attendants!" |-).

I also agree that a shrug in response to debri found in food
is entirely unacceptable. I would have asked to see the manager.
I have had the fried oysters appetizer twice (once downtown, once
uptown), and both times it was excellent.

As for the food, it's a highly subjective thing. Personally,
I wouldn't rate the uptown location as high as the downtown one.
The downtown one is probably one of my favorite dining places
(pending more "investigations" of course! |-), if price is not
an object. The uptown one is much more convenient for us.
  That's all.

[ And now my usual restaurant review disclaimer: when it comes
to the matter of food, there is only one opinion that matters:
yours. So, git out there and try 'em all! ]
