quoting Manzoor Hassan :

: My favorite would be Buffet Palace and the Bangkok Cuisine.

let me be the first: <yuck>

: Of course I'm sure there's going to be a ton of people who are going to : point out why Buffets suck... and I do not disagree with them.

well, most do (suck) anyways. But I doubt that there will be many
who'll bother to "point out" -- it's a religious issue, mostly.

: NOT meant for a fine dining experience, they are meant to be cheap, fast : and with more than a couple of choices to be enjoyed.

I'm not sure about "cheap" -- in all but the pizza buffet places.
Buffets these days seem to cost more than ordering from the lunch
specials or regular menu. Which creates a problem for the buffet
places in that "regular" people don't want to go to lunch there (and
pay more) and they end up attracting only those who "pig out" (eat
for three) -- and that again means a losing proposition (unless the
buffet is priced at least 50% higher than a regular lunch, but that
then REALLY reduces the number of customers).

When CLassic Thai dropped their lunch buffet price to $5 (well, $4.95)
someone there must have realized that catch-22, I thought... but I hate
to think what that must have done to their food offerings (I haven't
been back there since before the price change. will try it tomorrow).
Even at the higher price before, one had to get there by, best before,
noon, as they were very slow (stingy?) replenishing the meat dishes.
But the opposite could be true if they now attract larger (and more
continous) a crowds. The simple and basic fact is, however, that that
location is very, very difficult, no matter what.
