I had heard good things about it but I thought the food was bland and uninspired and the atmosphere dreary. I would not waste your time there. Sea Dragon (both locations) is my favorite Vietnamese/Chinese restaurant in Austin and I've eaten at quite a few. They have a nice vegetarian selection too, if that matters to you. The best Chinese restaurant I eat at is Veggie Heaven. That place is AMAZING!! My second favorite is Wok and Roll (I wish they delivered). Best Chineese in Austin???
I have to add that I recently had an EXCELLENT lunch at China on the Avenue. I had been there many years ago and enjoyed it, but hadn't been back till recently. The vegetables were extremely fresh (including some excellent snow peas, my favorite!) and some really nice and spicy sauce (I forget which one it was.) It's located on Congress just South of the Capitol. Nice atmosphere, too, with no TV:-) I also liked Wok N'Roll (for cheaper, faster food), but the ownership has recently changed and I'm not as thrilled with it (they added the TV and changed the menu slightly.) I'm still willing to give them a chance to get acclimated, but they keep forgetting to put broccoli in the veggie fried rice (among other annoyances--things that I liked and got used to with the previous management.) What about Pao's Mandarin House? Anyone been there lately? It used to be really good too. Is it still there? (downtown) lisa [email removed]

And I was surprised by too things: it was not the dump others in this group have said it was (not bad for a fast food place, that is) and the food was GREAT, better than I remembered it. I have eaten in a lot of fancy Chinese places and I actually think their "fast" food is better than most of the upscale fancy decor places.
