If you want great, low-cost, casual dining, try Kerby Lane cafe(s).  I believe there are three now: one on Kerby Lane, one on South Lamar, and the other I don't know.  You will need to ask someone for directions once you get to Austin.  They are open 24-hours a day, have a wonderful and diverse menu, and thier pancakes are TO DIE FOR!  Enjoy your trip.
