I have not yet been to it, but the Arrat Restaurant reopened. The owner unfortunately had been in an automobile accident.

Friends who have been there gave it good reviews. The cuisine is middle eastern, so it's not for the chicken fried steak crowd.

I plan to try it soon, but if anybody has been there I would like to hear your opinion.

It's located on North Loop at a distance east of Lamar.

I hadn't heard that it had closed, as it is not near to my home or work, however, I have eaten there and greatly enjoyed the experience. The food was a delight, and the waitress was gracious, lovely, and composed as she dealt with our table of about 15 people. The service was somewhat slow, but I suspect that the kitchen was overwhelmed by the size of our order - it is a small place. The prices are reasonable.

I can highly recommend Arrat, with two qualifications - I am not an expert on middle eastern food so I have no idea if the food is "authentic", however the Egyptian gentleman and the Russian lady at our table felt that it was authentic, even if not authentic for their homelands. Also, I would not go there when I was in a hurry - but again good food should be enjoyed, not rushed.
