Aubergine's may be good, but would you go to a place called Bubba's BBQ in Paris? My no. 1 rule of dining on the road is "Go Local!" Bob Wells

No, you won't have to get used to eating grits and chitlins. Chitlins are seldom offered in restaurants. Most places that serve grits will also offer hash browns as an alternative. But the bigger question you're asking, I think, is whether you can find decent non-Southern food in Memphis. Yes, of course you can. Do try Ronnie Grisanti's on Summer. The Grisanti family has operated good quality restaurants in Memphis for forty or fifty years that I know of, maybe longer. Jim's East is also a long-time Memphis tradition; I recently had crab cakes there. I liked them, but if you're from back East, they may not be up to your standard. For barbeque, when I'm in Memphis I like to eat at Rendezvous, which is downtown, in the alley behind the Downtowner motel. Corky's is also good for barbeque. Claudia
