If you are lookin for the best BBQ in memphis, Go to Interstate BBQ at 2265 S.Third. It's in a kinda rough part of town but well worth the trip. Don't even think about Rendezous, Its for tourists & yankees.

Memphis BBQ
Rendevous USED to be good and I'm neither a tourist nor a Yankee!! (I may live up north now, but I'm still a southerner and intend to stay that way!) I do concede that its been over 15 years since I last darkened its doors, however. There was another good bbq place down in Overton Square (many moons ago), the name of which I can't recall. The barbeque was great; the sangria divine... Donna Someone wrote: > > If you are lookin for the best BBQ in memphis, Go to Interstate BBQ at 2265 > S.Third. You are thinking of The Public Eye. They do indeed have good BBQ. Another good stop is Corkey's. Although they get crowded at times and the wait is unaceptable. Rendezvous,(in my humble opinion) suffers from their own good reputation. The seem to think everyone will love what they serve no matter how bland it is. The shoulder is ok. ribs are dry and stringy. (I cook a better slab on my $30 smoker.)and the side orders are absolutly horrible. The wait staff, while colorful, can be down right rude. The only item I can give 2 thumbs up to is the BBQ shrimp. but this must be ordered 24 hours ahead of time and is only served in a large pot suitable for large groups. most I've tried pretty much suck. The only ones that I would recommend is Interstate BBQ and Corkys. I believe my shoulders that I smoke are far superior to those. 30 years in Memphis.
Corky's is good - also in Germantown J. Alexander's. It's one of our favorites. Steaks, chops, bbq ribs, fish. Wonderful restaurant.

When you get to the Third street exit, Get off the interstate and head north(If you are coming fron Chi-town that would be left). About 1/4 mile on the left is Interstate BBQ. Without a doubt it is the best BBQ in town.(IMHO) The neighborhood looks pretty rough but it's generaly safe in the daytime.
