For an unbelievable breakfast in the Smoky Mountains, go to the Burning Bush. It it in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area - near The Open Hearth reastaurant. Anyway, the "Bountiful Breakfast" as it is called is wonderful. You order a meat (choose from country ham, bacon, quail, chicken, sausage, etc.). Then along with muffins and a fruit juice they prepare themselves... you get bowls and bowls of eggs, fruit, biscuits, grits, gravy, potatoes and some other stuff. The restaurant is located on the edge of some sort of wildlife preservation area, so you are treated to a spectacular view of deer and exotic birds amid the peaceful music of a beautiful harp. It is a family favorite, and as a rule, the last day of our trip must include breakfast at the Burning Bush. BTW, for beautiful, peaceful lodging, you can't beat a weekend in a chalet atop a mountain. For over 15 years, we have rented chalets from Chalet Village PROPERTIES (The are different from the 3-year old Chalet Village) You pick out the exact chalet you want from a list of floorplans. The view is breathtaking, and you can't see another chalet from your deck. Many include whirlpools, TV/VCRs, DW, MV, W/D, grills on the deck-(some have double-decks). (Some hold over 20 people-comfortably. In fact, that is where we are going on our honeymoon. Rather than spend our money on tourist traps and tourist-type restaurants constantly, we will get our groceries before we get to the chalet. Each chalet has a full kitchen, and a steak grilled in that mountain air is amazing. Breakfast out on the deck with a view of the smokies is something you'll never forget.
