new sushi on South Carson

Sushi Too of Shadyside has recently expanded to the South Side. The new place is called Sushi Two, and Brian and I stopped in last night. The decor is pleasantly subdued and, in my limited sushi experience, right on key. Lighting is good, music is unobtrusive (and predominantly Japanese, I think), booths are slightly uncomfortable (but we were in there for a couple hours, so it might not be a problem for everyone). We had the tempura and zaru soba appetizers; both were very good (and nicely presented). The important part: the sushi is good. Darn good. It's the best veg sushi I've had in Pgh (and the widest selection -- cucumber, asparagus, mushroom, and an amazing veg roll with pickle, radish sprouts, and some other stuff that I couldn't identify; not a huge selection, but getting there), and Brian reports that the non-veg sushi is darn tootin too. Service is superb, the sake is good (although my sake experience is minimal), and we'll be going back, probably often (although we'll probably try for Monday, Wednesday, or Friday, which is apparently when their new fish arrives, in order to snag some of the weirder fish dishes that I don't know anything about). Not sure of the address, but it's on the second block east of the Birmingham Bridge. They have a grand opening banner up right now, so it shouldn't be too hard to find.

and don't let anybody tell you any different.
