When I was in Charleston, SC this past summer I ate at a place called Fonduely Yours. The menu was obviously Fondue which is a fun experience if you have never done it. It makes for a long leisurely dinner (meats in hot oil and sauces) and dessert (fresh fruit in melted chocolate). The owner, Joel Plotkin, was very friendly and the experience was quite different than most other restaurants. It was actually located across the river to the north in Mt. Pleasant at 853 Coleman Blvd. Their number is (803) 849-6859. Jim Hubbs Johns Hopkins University APL

Gee..I live I live in Mount Pleasant. The Trawler is reknowned and is located just across the Shem Creek Bridge on Coleman. It has a nice little light house and is located on Shem Creek with a beautiful view. Note: this is a 4* restaurant and costs as such. But there are many great restaurants along the Shem Creek which are fine and have a view as well as the fragrance of the marshes and creek. Further down coleman, is Sullivans Island. Sully's is a nice little restaurant which serves nice seafood. Yes..this time of year is Shrimp season. But Crabs and other seafood are in abundance also. Ken

When in Savannah, head out towards Tybee Island, and look for the place called Williams Seafood. Is an unforgettable seafood experience. As for Charleston, I'm not sure if the restaurant still exists or has been maybe rebuilt since Hugo, but the Trawler seafood res. on James Isl. usually has or had approximately 30-45 minutes wait time. Absolutely the best food in the area. Probably ask any of the local folks there and they can fill you in. sam
