Providence has many great restaurants: here are a few -

Al Forno (creative Italian, lots of grilled items, excellent pizzas, nice wine list, fairly expensive)

New Rivers (eclectic cuisine, nice atmosphere, small, reasonable prices)

Adesso (nouvelle italian, great pasta dishes, nice service, fairly expensive)

Pizzico (great italian, grilled food and pasta, lovely atmosphere, nice service, expensive)

A Taste of India (small, intimate, good Indian cuisine, BYOB, very reasonable)

These are all in the area of Brown University, and R.I.S.D. - there are many more but these, I believe, are standouts.

In addition, there are a number of great places on Federal Hill (Atwells Ave.). Try Trattoria Antuono, L"Epicurea, Camille's, and The Old Canteen. For dessert, try Caffe La Dolce Vita in the pedestrian mall. The Italian food served in this area rivals that served in Boston's North End. Buon Apetito (spelling?)!
