Jerry, The restaurant at Quinta do Lago is considered one of the best in the Algarve, it will be pricey but I think worth it. I can't remember the name of it, it is perhaps called Casa Velha or something like that. "The restaurant at Quinta do Lago" will be enough to find your way there. I haven't eaten there myself but have a friend who is an investor in this resort and he swears it is some of the best food around. And I swear on his good taste, so hopefully that will be useful to you! Sorry so secondhand. Restaurant "Bom Dia - Boa Noite" ("Good Morning - Good Evening") It is located above the old harbour in Portimao. Extremely good and not expensive seafood. 2. Restaurant "Kailua" (sp?) It is located in a small lane in Lagos in the 2nd floor. It is owned by an Angolan and he cooks African-type Portuguese food. Speciality: Chicken Curry! I was there last year and my favorite restaurant was the Serra e Mer in the town of Praia de Roche. Get the grilled lamb. Awesome. But don't go to the casino a couple of blocks away. They're assholes, portuguese mafia or something. And get grilled sardines at most of the seaside restaurants. They are huge, like small trout and verrrrrrry cheap. If you are coming from Lisbon to Portimao via the only main highway (don't have a map handy right now) stop at one of the little roadside cafes about 1/3 of the way (as the highway starts bearing south) and get anything with onions in it. That region has the _best_ onoins in I've ever had, and you're talking to a guy who gave his daughter the middle name "Vidalia". And if you get any, find out what they are called, please. BTW, in order to overcome the language barrier, the cook at the cafe took us into the kitchen and lifted the lid on all of the pots on the stove and let us select our lunch. It was a tough choice. Sorry I can't remember the name of the place. Dave
