There are quite a few places around the city that provide excelently prepared dishes in their realm of cooking. Of course, being the product of a blue-collar family, with a Hungarian father and a British mother, I guess I wouldn't recognize an "excelent" dish if it was flung at me from a more enlightened kitchen. Ob resturant review: There is a new take-out/delivery (limited seating, plasict silverware) Chinese place in the Westview area that is well worth a look. It's called China Sea, and they have a limited delivery range in the Bellview/Westview area. The spices seem most heavily influence by a Hunan/Scezwuan(sp?) mix, which makes for quite a few surprises. Personally, I prefer it to the usual Canton-pretend-to-be-Scezwuan places, but expect a slight turn on your usual favorites. Like the steamed dumplings, which are served with a spicey (and slightly sweet) bean sauce that is incredibly addictive. Or the Kung Pao Chicken, which is spiced quite diferently from the usual Pgh fair (less sweet and tart, more peppery). Good, but different. I've not tried their curries yet, so I can't comment. Maybe tonight (the wife just called, and she sounded hungry ;^) It's a small family operation, and it shows. They are friendly, but expect to repeat your order if you speak low and fast. They also like to rely on green peppers as fillers over both cabbage and celery (which is fine by me), and are heaver on the pepper than on either the garlic or the ginger. But we've had more than 1/2 a dozen dishes already, and have not been disappointed (I always start with the garlic chicken, and it was good but not very heavy on the garlic.) But for us, the star is the dumpling sauce! I'd give it 4 out of 5 dumplings for a takeout resturant.
