Wandered over to Vertigo Bar last night and had a nice dinner. The atmosphere is fairly eclectic, a sort-of "art-deco + 70's + diner motif", or something like that. They played late seventies/early eighties music (Da-do-run-run-run, Da-do-run-run, etc.). The service was first rate. Attentive, not overbearing, knowledgeable, etc. Having recently had an absolutely amazing Tapas dinner in Chicago (Ba-ba-ree-ba Cafe - for god sakes don't miss it if you're there), we decided to order exclusively from the Tapas portion of the menu. The menu has 4 parts, about a dozen tapas, a bunch of gourmet-style Pizzas, soups/salads/sandwhiches, and a few entrees. We had: Steamed Mussels in Pesto Broth : Excellent Risotto Cakes : Poor, a bit oily - use hotter oil! Fungi Foursome?: Very good Vertigo Stix: Fair Mini-calzone: Very good Gravlox: Very good Herbed Sweet Potatoes Excellent We were quite hungry, and this was quite filling for 2 people. For the above and 2 beers, the total was $31.00 They also have a $5.95 lunch special. I'll go back. I wish they had about three times as many different tapas though -- a whole messa-tapas is a great way to have a causal long chatty meal. Barry

Vertigo Bar - Quick Review
Also liked it. Tried both the linguini and chicken pizzas. The linguini pizza texture is a bit strange, but the taste is good. The atmosphere is interesting, but didn't match the crowd. Seemed very family oriented, lots of kids! I thought, is this a bar, or a family restaurant? Well it seems it is both.
